Richardson Named SC Insurance Commissioner; Opposes Wind Pool Expansion

Our new state insurance director, Scott Richardson, rejected calls for the broad expansion of a program that offers coverage for hurricane-prone areas and said such a move would cost many consumers more money. 

Richardson favors tax breaks for insurers to lure them back into writing property along the coast and tax breaks for property owners who make homes more hurricane resistant, therefore becoming more attractive risks to insurers.
